World Class Univeristy in Malaysia Context
December 1st, 2007A second year student of University Purta Malaysia has been found “guilty” by the varsity internal disciplinary tribunal been obstructing the university security officers from discharging their duty. Besides been given stiff warning, he was also suspended for one semester.
Apparently, the “indiscipline” student was stopped by the guard house. He was ordered to have his bag be searched by the security guards. He refused to follow the order as there was no reason given by the security guards. His bag was then seized by some unidentified person who arrived at the scene later.
It seems that the security guards of the unversity have “greater” power than our police force. Even the police need to identify themselves when carrying the search and seizure procedure.
Yet the so-called “indiscipline” student was suspended of his study because he just wanted to know the purpose of the search before he handed over his bag.
Maybe it is the university authority’s view that by enforcing strict disciplinary rules on the students will improve their world ranking.
